Now you can offer your landlord a Guarantee instead of bond.

Talk to your Landlord about accepting a Bond Assist Guarantee. You enjoy less upfront costs and your Landlord enjoys more cover. What’s more, the Guarantee is affordable, lasts for 3 years and is transferable. Or if your landlord still wants a bond, talk to them about accepting a reduced bond with a Bond Assist Guarantee. It could still work out more affordable, while offering your landlord more security. A ‘win win’ for tenant and landlord.

Bond Assist is a Guarantee issued by CBL Insurance Limited that offers your landlord the same protections as offered by bond. However it is not bond, it is a Guarantee (similar to insurance) that your landlord can claim against at the end of the tenancy if you have breached the terms of the tenancy agreement i.e. you have left without required notice, or with rent arrears, or with repairs or cleaning that needed to be done. Where we pay a claim at the end of the tenancy we recover that money back from you (as it is a Guarantee and not insurance).

The Guarantee costs 23% (including GST) of the cover agreed with your landlord. I.e. $1000 cover costs $230.

  • With no bond to pay there are less upfront costs when moving into a rental property.
  • You don’t have to lock your cash away indefinitely with the Department and Building and Housing. You can use your cash for other projects.
  • You can approach prospective landlords fully vetted and approved
  • By offering your landlord up to 5 weeks bond cover you may stand a better chance of getting your preferred rental property.
  • Relax - The Guarantee lasts for 3 years with no ongoing premiums or fees.
  • Flexibility – The Guarantee is transferable. Conditional on no claim at the end of the tenancy you can transfer the Guarantee to a new property for free, subject to landlord approval.
